To that end, we’ve created a successful Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) program that rests on a foundation of values and principles with people, integrity, and operational excellence at its core.
Our continued success is based on integrating our processes into our culture, strategic plans, operating procedures, and policies. We firmly believe that safety is everyone’s responsibility and that all occupational injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents can be prevented.

- Led by management, all employees are responsible for safety, health, and the environment, both as individuals and collectively as one team.
- Any employee can use Stop Work Authority (see below) or inform management about workplace hazards without fear of reprisal.

Pahlisch Safety’s
Stop Work Authority
Our teams strive to control risk by recognizing circumstances that place people at risk and taking action. In support of this mindset, we established a Stop Work Authority policy, which outlines the following: It is the responsibility and duty of all employees to stop work when any condition, activity, or practice in the workplace may reasonably be expected to cause death or serious physical harm to people, the environment, and/or company assets. When used in good faith, this policy shall result in no blame or fault, even if the ‘stop work’ order was deemed unnecessary after the investigation.
The following steps are to be taken when stop work conditions arise:
- Take action by stopping the work immediately.
- If an individual or group is notified to ‘stop work,’ they must immediately comply. Notify the supervisor/superintendent in charge of the condition(s).
- The supervisor/superintendent in charge shall ensure the work is stopped in a safe manner.
- The supervisor/superintendent shall investigate the ‘stop work’ conditions in partnership with the Safety Manager (as needed).
- The supervisor/superintendent shall discuss and/or determine corrective measures with all personnel involved and revise any work instructions or job safety analyses as needed.
- Work may be resumed when the imminent risk or danger which led to the stoppage no longer exists and upon approval from the supervisor/superintendent.
- The supervisor/superintendent shall document the work stoppage and any corrective measures.
